Tarot Card of the Week: Eight of Swords (Tridents)

This week I am feeling drawn to Tarot of Mermaids, so the card of the week was from this deck. The card I drew was the Eight of Swords (Tridents).

The card depicts a mermaid trapped between rock formations in shallow, calm waters. There are eight tridents behind her. She appears to be caged and is bound and blindfolded.

You may be forced to hold yourself back this week, and to have self-control. If this is your own choice, then realize your intuition is guiding you for a reason. It may be time to sit quietly in solitude and reflect upon this. Or, are you feeling repressed, and not want to hold yourself back, but feel forced to? Is this force from an external source, or within yourself?

The mermaid in the card can escape her cage, there is a large space between the tridents behind her. The waters are calm so she could easily swim away and free herself from the ties that bind her, or get help from another.

Reflect upon whether your cage and binds are self-inflicted by choice, or if it is being forced upon you. Are you wanting to escape, or are you not ready yet?

Tarot Card of the Week: King of Wands

Using the Universal Waite Tarot Deck, the card I drew was the King of Wands.

This card depicts a king on a throne; he is leaning forward, in a confident manner. He is strong-minded, feels that his ideas are best, and expects others to follow him. This card indicates that you may find yourself wanting to take risks to achieve your goals this week, with limitless enthusiasm and energy.

With the kind of drive and desire like the King of Wands, you may be successful at whatever you pursue, or you may be viewed as being too forceful, taking unnecessary risks.

Watch out for getting too upset if things do not go your way, try to curb your impatience, and not try to force others into seeing things your way. You will want to consider others’ opinions as they may have some good ideas to help you.

Reflect upon your enthusiasm and drive, and see how it may be affecting you in the week ahead.

Tarot Card of the Week: Nine of Wands

Nine of Wands card from the Universal Waite Tarot Deck.

Using the Universal Waite Tarot Deck, the card I drew was the Nine of Wands.

This card depicts a man surrounded by eight large wands; he is leaning on the ninth wand. His head is bandaged, as if he has been fighting in battle. He is surrounded by the wands, which could represent obstacles in his way. He appears apprehensive about overcoming these obstacles.

Things may start smoothly, but you may hit a roadblock or setback this week. It could be the Universe saying that it is time for a break to regroup and plan your next move. You may wonder if you can even take it anymore. Should you just give up? Although he has been injured, the man in the card looks like he still has strength and determination left in him.

You are close to reaching that goal, closer than you may realize. Don’t allow fear to immobilize you and prevent you from achieving what you desire, dig deep for courage. Regain your strength, evaluate what needs to happen, and go for it again.

As I was meditating upon this card, lyrics from an Eagles song popped into my head — “Take it to the limit, one more time.” That lyric fits this card. And why not enjoy the song as well while you are here.

Have a good week!
