Card of the Week: The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man card from the Universal Waite Tarot deck.

I used the Universal Waite Tarot Deck to pull this week’s card. The card I drew was The Hanged Man. This card depicts a man hanging upside down from a tree. He is there by his own choosing. He is there to gain enlightenment; this is illustrated by a bright halo around his head. He is trying to gain wisdom through suffering, and has given up things that he is attached to in order to gain higher awareness. The Hanged Man symbolizes someone who views things differently than society out of attachment to a greater belief, even a reversal of previous attitudes.

Have your views changed? Have you developed an attachment to a greater belief? If not yet then you may find this happening this week. You could change your point of view about what you are putting your current efforts towards, or see that there is a need to view it from a different perspective.

This card may also indicate giving up something to gain something else. You may be giving up one thing, or need to give up something, in exchange for what you feel will be of greater benefit to you. It could be leaving behind a perspective or viewpoint. There may be a need to release ideas and associations that are obsolete, which could be affecting the development what you are putting your current efforts towards.

Have a blessed week.
